Precious Friends


Pinar is a dear friend here in Istanbul. I enjoyed meetingher family about a month ago--her father taught me to play a Turkish board game called Tavla. Pinar is extremely talented and creative and taught me how to make candles in tea glasses last week.

This is my friend Burce. We met at Chapel-Hill in the fall of my senior year (while she was studying abroad). She is finishing her education at Bogazici University here in Istanbul. She is hoping to return to America in the fall to study at the graduate level. Just the other day, she asked me to edit her essay for Yale--this was a first for me.
